New concept warehousing & distribution

Kwik-Fit was finding it increasingly demanding to keep its centres supplied with tyres. Tyre variety had increased to 900 sizes across 4,400 brands and dimension combinations. Manufacturer deliveries were up to six a day, taking staff away from customers. Kwik-Fit asked us to help them create a National Distribution Centre (NDC).  This resulted in retail centres getting six deliveries a week with orders consolidated into a single roll-cage; on-shelf availability at between 95-97%; a simplified delivery system that cleared valuable retail space;; a closed-loop chain where empty roll-cages are filled with shredded used tyre casings and taken for recycling; a 3,000 tonne reduction in CO2 emissions. Volac International is a major manufacturer of nutrition products to the agricultural markets. Its supply chain performance had deteriorated following a period of sustained grown and increased business complexity. The Consultancy Company helped them to develop and implement a simplified sales and operations planning process that integrated sales and operations to ensure that things were done ‘right first time’ resulting in a 20% increase in stock availability, a 50% reduction in credit notes issued, and a 15% increase in profit from sales of by-product.
