STRATEGY
Creating the Standard for a Pop Star
The client
The UK subsidiary of one of the world's leading soft drinks company
The challenge
The client needed to integrate two global soft drinks businesses and had very limited major programme and project management expertise
At the same time the annual business planning process needed more structured support
The solution
The current processes and skills were analysed to create an understanding of the exact nature and scope of the problem. Together with the client we then explored best fit options to create the shortest possible route to a successful integration that would also encompass the planning process.
It became apparent that there were no agreed standards for managing major projects, but to date the company had been able to rely on a rapidly reducing number of very experienced individuals. Due to the ongoing global expansion of the business in a short time these skills would be lost to the UK company.
The results of the analysis were presented to the Managing Director together with the recommendation that a company standard be established in order to ensure that:
the current problems were speedily resolved and
that future programmes would maintain the quality and effectiveness of this process
Based on our successful ProAct methodology we designed a client specific set of standards for managing all future projects.
We then designed and delivered the appropriate training and once the Senior Project Manager had started the project we provided ongoing coaching support to ensure achievement of the project goals.
