Kwik-Fit was finding it ever more demanding to keep its centres supplied with tyres. Tyre variety has increased in recent years to 900 sizes across 4,500 brand and dimension combinations. Increasingly, Kwik-Fit centre staff found themselves being taken away from customers to deal with manufacturers deliveries. Relocation to China

Automotive Products, a £30 million first tier automotive supplier, were seeking rapid cost reductions through the relocation of major elements of their manufacturing. To ensure internal resources were not overwhelmed by undertaking a project of this complexity, Automotive Products requested The Consultancy Company to research and manage the relocation process for them. The benefits of the project included a 40% reduction in the cost of purchased parts, a 30% reduction in manufacturing costs of transferred product and a completely new vendor base established in China.
