Joint Commissioning Consultancy
Working together
Our approach to joint commissioning consultancy helps our clients deliver services which meet the health and social care needs of vulnerable people. Many PCTs and local authorities are working together towards this aim, and our health and social care consultants have considerable experience in supporting their approaches to joint commissioning.
The publication in March 2007 of the ‘Commissioning Framework for Health and Well-Being' now demands a more person-centred approach to commissioning services and one which involves fuller engagement with services users and carers. Our health and social care consultants work with you and your colleagues in other organisations, developing effective approaches to joint commissioning services. Through our joint commissioning consultancy support you'll be jointly assessing needs in your community, working together to formulate joint financial plans, maintaining active contact with users of your services, planning innovative services and ensuring that all these services are reviewed and re-designed on a regular basis.
Benefits of joint commissioning:
- Better use of scarce resources
- Recognition of the overlap between health and social care needs by minimising duplication of provision
- Pooling resources to target priority areas of unmet need
- Improved relationships and trust between health and social care staff
- Better service re-design
- And most of all, improved quality of services
We all recognise the benefits of joint commissioning but these can be elusive without careful and objective thought and then sensitive management of the relationship between partners. Our approach draws on our deep understanding of the health and social care environment and experience of supporting successful joint commissioning activities.
